Mastering or stereo mastering
Mastering is one of the last steps in the production chain. Special care should be taken here to ensure a high quality standard. Our experience and know-how, which we have acquired through the multitude of supervised productions, will turn your already good production into an even better one.
After the actual audio mastering, the track order is determined, pauses and track indices are set, and certain additional information such as ISRC, EAN codes or CD text is created during premastering, which usually does not involve any further sound processing. Finally, a premaster CD is created, which should comply with the Red Book standard for audio CDs.
Additionally, all available information is helpful, e.g. tempo of the song (BPM), already made mixes as orientation, comparable reference examples.
As source material I need a data CD / hard disk or download link at www.wetransfer.com – www.sendspace.com - or on request we provide our own server. Data should be submitted with detailed caption in the following format:
- Wav with a uniform(!) starting point as stereo track.
- When exporting, make sure that you do not use any edits or plugins in the master.
- The export should be below 0 db ideally between -2 db to -6 db
- 44,1kHz & 16Bit
- 44.1kHz & 24Bit (preferred format)
- 44,1kHz & 32Bit
- 48,0kHz & 16Bit
- 48,0kHz & 24Bit
- 48,0kHz & 32Bit

Stem Mixing / Mastering
Stem mixing or stem mastering is a method to be much more flexible in the mastering process. Instead of a stereo sum, individual instrument groups are processed. That is, e.g. drums, bass, guitars, lead vocals, background vocals. The possibilities of stem mastering are much better than with standard stereo mastering, because in problematic areas only certain, namely the problematic instrument groups are reworked and thus the overall mix is significantly less affected.
As source material I need a data CD / hard disk or download link at www.wetransfer.com – www.sendspace.com - or on request we provide our own server. Data should be submitted with detailed caption in the following format:
- Export all single tracks in wave format with a uniform(!) starting point as stereo tracks.
- Allocation in the stereo image as desired, but please note when exporting that you do not use any processing or plug-ins in the master. Of course you may dynamize, equalize and color the individual tracks and busses according to your taste.
- The sum of the exports should be below 0 db.
Import all stems into a new project and check if the desired files are error free.
